Used Bikes Wanted for New Social Enterprise Project

In 2010 Julian House launched a new project called reCYCLEd. Used bikes are repaired by clients and then sold to raise funds. Much of the work at reCYCLEd is carried out by clients under the supervision of staff members. This includes servicing and repairs to machines which are brought in by members of the public – often with a same day turnaround.
Now very much up and running, the project is calling on the public to donate unwanted machines which can then be given a new lease of life.
Sue Lowman, the Social Enterprise Development Worker at Julian House is very pleased with how well the scheme has taken off – “Right now we are victims of our own success. We’ve managed to bring back to good working order hundreds of the machines that we had stockpiled and now we need more. I know that there are thousands of bikes at the back of people’s garages which they’ll never use again but we could. We’ve built up quite a level of expertise and our customers have gone away very happy. Some of the bikes go to clients as well. The money we raise will help us to grow the project or fund other vital homeless services which are provided by Julian House.”
reCYCLEd is open Mon-Sat, 9.30am – 5pm(Thurs & Fri open until 6pm), just across the road from the old Quasar building. They can also be contacted on 01225 463350 or bathbikeworkshop@gmail.com
