Volunteers have been at the heart of Julian House’s operation since it was founded in 1987. Although there is now a core of paid staff the organisation places great emphasis on the role and contribution of volunteers. Not only do they undertake very worthwhile work, they also help to contain running costs and make existing levels of service possible. They offer clients valuable opportunities for renewal of social contact and bring a variety of life experiences - new skills which a small charity such as Julian House couldn't hope to provide, even from its dedicated staff.
Flexible volunteering sessions exist at the Julian House Night Shelter and Day Centre. We need volunteers to help with catering and domestic activities within the projects. Other volunteering opportunities eg admin support, tuition for client resettlement groups (eg crafts, IT, life skills) often exist at other projects within the organisation. Full induction and training sessions are offered. The current minimum age is 18.
