Domestic Abuse Service Christmas Party

Julian House provides high quality refuge accommodation for survivors of domestic abuse; in 2017 Julian House became the sole provider of refuge accommodation across B&NES, we also provide the Freedom programme, which is for women who have experienced domestic abuse.

We currently have 22 women and men living in our safe houses or in the community, along with 25 children. While this number can change weekly with people moving in and out, it is our first year with so many service users, so we have decided to have a Christmas party with them all!

We are looking for anyone who can donate Christmas presents to be able to give out at the party, please see the list at the bottom of the page for what items are suitable.

Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for our service users; Cathy Adcock, Area Funding Manager, explains:

“Very often the women (and children) would are forced to seek support from Julian House have had to leave their family home at short notice and with very few belongings – just the clothes they are wearing and a couple of rushed suitcases.  We try and make life as comfortable as we can in the accommodation options that we have available, but for obvious reasons there is a limit to what we can provide.  Around Christmas emotionally things can become a bit more difficult for our clients and invariably money will be tight as well.  Donated Christmas presents won’t make their problems go away but it will make Christmas much more enjoyable.”

Items can be dropped off at the Julian House charity shop on Shaftsbury road. Please make it clear that items are gifts for the women’s services Christmas party and not a general charity shop donation.
