Linked to this years Christmas appeal we wanted to acknowledge the fantastic work that was done 30 years ago to launch Julian House.
Julian House has come a long way since the charity’s founders did such a fantastic job in setting up the original night shelters in Bath. Various sites had to be utilised because it wasn’t until six years later that the purpose built Manvers St hostel was established.
As can be seen below the conditions at the United Reform Church shelter were quite basic, but the fact that a functioning hostel was in operation was a major achievement – testament to the hard work of a number of churches, individuals and other organisations.
Today Julian House manages 37 projects, services and supported housing sites in Bath & North East Somerset and beyond. In total the charity operates 132 bed spaces and over the course of last year provided direct support to over 1000 individuals.
