International Women's Day
At Julian House, we are sharing the real stories of women who have faced homelessness through discrimination, violence and trauma.
These are the realities that often go unseen.
At Julian House, we work alongside women to provide safety, specialist support, and pathways forward that recognise the whole person.
This International Women’s Day, we stand with women whose experiences are too often unseen.
Thank you for standing with us.
Why are women less likely to seek support?
For women, homelessness is often shaped by fear. Sleeping on the streets can feel unsafe, so many hide in public places, cars, or remain in dangerous relationships just to survive.
While hidden from public view and the support networks that are there to help them, women who are facing homelessness might not be aware of the services around them.
What is the main cause of female homelessness?
Too often, we don’t associate domestic abuse with homelessness.
But our teams understand, it’s one of the most heartbreaking and overlooked causes.
Our refuges offer more than just safety. They provide tailored support, helping victims regain control, rebuild confidence, and begin to create the future they choose for themselves.
How does Julian House bridge the gap for marginalised communities?
When support systems fail or are unavailable, early warning signs are overlooked, crises escalate, and women fall through the cracks, which can lead to homelessness.
Accessing healthcare poses challenges due to stigma, discrimination-which leave many without necessary support.

When you give, you create safety, stability and a pathway forward.
This is what your support makes possible. Not just shelter - but a space for safety, dignity and new beginnings.
Thanks to you, we’re reaching more women in need of stability and care.
If you’re able to give again, your generosity can help ensure spaces like don’t just exist - they thrive. Places where women are truly heard, supported and empowered.
However, you choose to support us - thank you for standing with your community when it matters most.
