Meet Jim: providing outreach for rough sleepers in Exeter.

Six mornings a week, armed with flasks of hot drinks and snacks to offer people,

our outreach team completes a lap of the city to check on those sleeping outside and remind them of the help that is on offer.

Jim, an Exeter based service manager organises the outreach team to connect with people sleeping rough and provides them with essential supplies, warm conversations, and information about support services to help them get off the streets.

Our outreach teams are there day in day out, meeting people where they are: in the cold, in the dark, in the forgotten corners of our communities.

'My team do go above and beyond and are compassionate and non-judgemental.'

Because of the complex cases of some of the people who they help, Jim and his team have to be equip with knowledge to make sure that everyone receives the best care.

As Jim puts it:

“In a broken system, we wear many hats; social worker, housing officer, mental health support, to be there for people in their moment of crisis.”
