We have an Assertive Outreach Team who go out onto the streets of Dorset (except for Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole) to help people off the streets and into accommodation.
The service works assertively with:
- All rough sleepers
- Those insecurely housed and at immediate risk of rough sleeping
- Those leading street-based lifestyles which may involve begging and street-drinking
The service pro-actively identifies rough sleepers through regular outreach sessions and responds swiftly to local reports of people sleeping rough or engaged in street-based activity.
The service actively works with the public, local businesses, statutory and voluntary agencies to improve the lives of rough sleepers, increase understanding and awareness of rough sleeping and reduce anti-social behaviour and to improve the environment.
The service takes a multi-agency and person-centred approach to supporting people off the streets and into appropriate accommodation and services, as quickly as possible.
The service seeks to secure a rapid, supported re-connection for rough sleepers who are not from the local area and wish to return home.
If you see someone sleeping rough tell us via streetlink.
