There isn’t a single ‘right’ way to help. How you respond will always come down to personal comfort and circumstances, and we wouldn’t judge anyone choosing to set a polite boundary or even not engage directly if you don’t feel comfortable to do so.

For women, homelessness is often shaped by fear. Sleeping on the streets can feel unsafe, so many hide in public places, cars, or remain in dangerous relationships just to survive.

Rough sleeping is the most visible side of homelessness that we can see, but the majority of homelessness remains hidden out of the public eye. Hidden homelessness refers to people who may be considered homeless but whose housing situation is not ‘visible’ on the streets or in official statistics

Rising temperatures can pose a real threat to people rough sleeping or in unsuitable accommodation.
