Big Exeter Sleep-Out

Thank you to everyone who attended the 2024 event! Your support means the world and makes a real difference to the lives of the people we support. Watch this space for the 2025 event.

Event Details:

Sleep-out for just one night and help us raise vital funds and awareness for people forced to sleep out every night.

In 2023, we provided life-changing support to over 2000 vulnerable individuals who were experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness across the South-West. It’s a grim realisation that without support like ours, the life expectancy of a long-term homeless person is just 44 years.

But you can help us change that.

Join us and others in Exeter and Devon for the Big Exeter Sleep-Out – an opportunity to reflect on those experiencing homelessness and contribute to a brighter future. Just swap your bed for a sleeping bag and brave the weather for one night outside.

The Big Exeter Sleep-Out isn’t about replicating rough sleeping. Of course, spending one cold night at St James’ Park Football Stadium couldn’t possibly come close to the stark reality of being homeless and sleeping on the streets. However, if you take us upon this eye-opening challenge, you will raise funds to help Julian House rebuild and save lives.

The next morning, after the Sleep-Out, you can go indoors, have a warm bath, a cooked breakfast, chat to family and friends about your experience or just catch up on lost sleep. The big difference for people who are forced to sleep rough is that they don’t have that option.

It may not be your most comfortable night’s sleep, but it will be one of your most worthwhile ones.

We thank our partner, Exeter City Community Trust for their ongoing support each year, and Rapid Relief who will be returning to provide a small breakfast before you head off home.

  • Sleeping bag
  • Cardboard and/or plastic sheeting to be placed between you and the ground

How do I raise funds?

Upon registering for the event, you’ll be sent a link to your fundraising page. It is then time to start raising sponsorship, through friends, colleagues, and family. It’s important to tell your sponsors about the challenge, and how you’ll be braving the elements and outside conditions to help raise vital funds and awareness for vulnerable men and women experiencing homelessness.

Will I receive any resources for the night and to help me fundraise?

Absolutely. We will send you regular emails between now and the event to help with your fundraising, and tips for sleeping outside.

What is the fundraising target?

Every penny you raise goes towards supporting vulnerable individuals, and we ask that all participants raise as much as they can so that we can support as many people as possible. See our Impact Report to find out the important ways your funds can make a difference.
